Joy for children is a young and highly inspired association thanks to the members and volunteers who fully embraced its causes. Our activities are concentrated on the Turkish-Syrian border where several projects have been activated in a short time in favor of syrian refugees. Joy’s missions can be shared through the experience of the humanitarian mission which everyone can join (for information write to info@joyforchildren.it to receive the brochure with dates and costs for the next trips).

Joy’s projects

We work to the Turkish-Syrian border, where thousands of refugees who left Syria because of the civil war, are living since about 10 years. Many of them are children or disabled. We agree with the UNHCR considerations and believe that cultural support is urgently needed as well as the material one. The Syrian people are living in extreme poverty for too long, without any future perspective. It is therefore important for us to work on long-term projects that build the foundations for the future of the children and young people to whom we pay our attention.

Thanks to the collaboration with Salaheddin-i Eyyubi, a Turkish-Syrian association based in Kilis, we care of a kindergarten with 60 children, many of which are orphans. With the donations collected, we improved the kindergarten classrooms by  installing an air conditioning and heating system and school supplies (pc and a projector for children’s entertainment).

Another import project is the support for disable children directly at their home. The presence of disabled people among the Syrian refugee population is sadly high  because relations between blood relatives are allowed.

Children with serious disabilities live in an evident state of isolation inside their own homes, without any support and human warmth so started a home education and rehabilitation program  by providing them with a teacher (see the project “ADOTTA UNA MAESTRA”)

We also support a house with seriously injured and sick people, who are waiting for surgery or for a simply health check, by providing them with equipment. We named the project “La casa della speranza” (The house of hope), you can find here all the details.

Finally we regularly bring warmth to children and families by delivering shopping vouchers to be used in Kilis supermarkets for groceries.

We are Joy and we start from here.
